The Music and the Career
The Santa Cruz native first went viral in 2016 — a bowl haircut, an unmistakable voice and an alt-pop style that refused to be categorised. He was 22 years old when the internet found him and spent the next decade building one of the most distinctive careers in independent music.
His biggest hits — Life Goes On, Miss You, Alien Boy — reached hundreds of millions of streams. In 2023 he collaborated with KSI on Voices, expanding his audience further into YouTube’s global fanbase.
He was midway through a world tour at the time of his death. His final show had taken place in São Paulo on 6 June — nine days before the crash. He was scheduled to perform in Lisbon on 1 July and had UK dates confirmed in Glasgow, Manchester and London for September.
None of those shows will go ahead.
KSI and Steve-O Pay Tribute
KSI — who collaborated with the alt-pop artist on Voices and sits as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent — was among the first to post publicly after the news broke.
“Can’t believe I’m actually having to type this,” KSI wrote on X. “You’re 32 man. You should still be here. You’re a legend and will always be a legend. Still doesn’t feel real. Genuinely feel sick. I love you bro.”
Jackass star Steve-O, real name Stephen Glover, shared a photograph of the two of them alongside a personal tribute.
“I was incredibly lucky to become friends with Oliver Tree,” Steve-O wrote. “He would check in on me regularly, and let me know he cared about how I was doing. Such a great person. I’m going to miss him.”
