Thousands expected at Macra na Feirme annual conference

Thousands of members are set to descend on Waterford as the Macra annual conference (or Rally) is taking place next weekend (October 26th-29th) in the Tower Hotel. The annual conference, supported by local company, Glanbia, incorporates the Young Farmers’ conference as well as the national finals of a number of our competitions.
The conference will be officially opened on the Friday (26th) by Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney, at 7.30pm which is followed by the final of the Irish Farmer’s Journal Know Your Ag quiz.
On Saturday (27th), the Young Farmers' conference will take place in the Woodlands Hotel, Waterford City. The theme of this year's conference is "Young Farmers: The Opportunity of a Lifetime" and will address the potential for young farmers. A lively panel discussion is anticipated as a number of distinguished speakers take to the stage including: Jim Bergin, Chief Executive, Dairy Ingredients Ireland, Glanbia; and Jim McCarthy, a progressive tillage farmer from Castledermot, Co. Carlow.
