Aer Lingus Regional service from Waterford Airport
Wednesday, 8th August 2012

Aer Lingus Regional service from Waterford Airport organised a media trip to Manchester recently attended by representatives of the local press and radio from Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny and Carlow. Local PR company Bance Nolan were involved in the organisation with Ann Power and Aoife Donohoe, Aer Arann playing a prominent role. Also in attendance was Graham Doyle, CEO of Waterford Airport.
The visit was organised in cooperation with visitmanchester.com and included a walking tour of the city and a music trail which included the site of one the world famous punk and indie rock icons of the world located in Little Peter Street, Manchester. The visit also involved a trip to Old Trafford to view the Team Great Britain clash with Senegal which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The walking tour of the city brought the visitors to the Little Ireland site which was the base for tens of thousands of impoverished Irish in the mid 1840's.
The connections between Manchester and Ireland go way back and obviously it goes without saying that there is a strong Manchester United support base in Waterford. It was interesting to note the esteem in which John O'Shea and Roy Keane are still held in this football conscious city.
