The Tower Hotel & Leisure Centre, 50 Years of Excellence
Wednesday, 27th June 2012

The Tower Hotel Waterford opened in June 1962 by the then Minister for Transport and Tourism, Erskine Childers. The Hotel was built by Sisk Builders at a cost of €150,000. It was the most modern hotel of its kind boasting hot water, central heating and modern surroundings! A room would have cost 25 shillings which included breakfast, and they became an instant success with holiday makers and business travellers alike.
Tower Hotel General Manager, Alicia Maguire and Catherina Dempsey Deputy General Manager with the entire team kicked off celebrations this week popping some champagne and cutting a celebratory cake. Alicia spoke on the occasion ' We are delighted to be celebrating such a milestone in our history, we want to thank all our guests, past present and future for their custom and loyalty, and look forward to another 50 great years'. Ms. Maguire went on to say, 'The hotel has always been an important part of the Waterford City Business and Social landscape over the past 50 years, and at the centre of this success is the wonderful team of staff and management, past and present. We acknowledge their contribution to our continued success.'
The Tower Hotel Waterford will be running several competitions, giveaways, and events over the next few weeks to celebrate 50 great years in business and look forward to welcoming you to the hotel or indeed welcoming you back!
The Tower Hotel is part of the FBD Hotel Group.
