A 28-year old Waterford resident, who was arrested in the City last week after a drugs seizure by Gardai, has been charged since being detained at Waterford Garda Station last week and was remanded in custody after a special sitting of Waterford District Court.
Christopher Walsh (28), who was arrested in Waterford City and held at Waterford Garda station last week, was charged under Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, Section 15 and Section 15 (a) of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
The 28-year old man was detained under section two of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act and could have been held for up to seven days but was charged by Waterford Gardai on Saturday afternoon.
A statement by the Garda Press Office said that 42 kilograms of Cannabis Herb was seized on the same day that the man was arrested, which they believe had a street value of €420, 000.
The operation was a joint one between the Waterford Garda Drugs Unit, National Drugs Unit and Irish Customs while a statement by Gardai noted the support of local Garda Units also.
