SIPTU Better Health, Better Jobs campaign to hold meeting in Waterford

The SIPTU Better Health, Better Jobs campaign is holding a meeting in the Granville Hotel, Waterford, on Thursday, 3rd May, at 6.30 p.m.

The event is open to all SIPTU Health workers and members of the public interested in the development of a better health service.

SIPTU Health Division Organiser, Paul Bell, said; "The SIPTU Better Health, Better Jobs campaign is visiting every major town in the country. While the experience for the vast majority of people who avail of the public health service is a good one it is vital the service is protected and developed.

"Health sector workers, from all disciplines, are working in an environment that is suffering from the impact of greater cuts to funding, staffing levels and bed closures. This is resulting in a feeling of uncertainty for the future among workers in the public sector and also within the communities that depend on their services.

"The Better Health, Better Jobs campaign is the start of a process of dialogue among SIPTU members concerning the deteriorating situation within our health services. What emerges from this dialogue will assist the union in developing an agenda for defending our public services and those who work in them."
