Daring rescue near Mahon Falls

Tramore Cliff and Waterford Mountain Rescue Team were called out last week for a daring rescue from a gully near the Mahon Falls area of Comeragh Mountains.

Two ladies from Cork got trapped on a ledge after become disoriented in a gully in the Comeragh Mountains today.

The team was called out at 10.30am August 5th and responded immediately. A climbing team abseiled down from the top of the Comeragh Mountains attached a Rescue sling , hoisted the two ladies to the top and guided them safely off the Mountains.

The two hikers were very happy and grateful for the teams response. Tramore Cliff and Waterford Mountain Rescue are on call 24/7 , supported solely by community support.

Please take care in Mountains, the team would always advise hikers to have a fully charged phone, water, food, waterproofs, map and compass and good boots.

    Even though the weather Gods didn’t exactly play ball over the weekend it doesn’t take away from the fact that this years Waterford Harvest Festival was yet again another wonderful success.
