Spraoi set to sizzle

Waterford Spraoi International Street Arts Festival is set to unleash a creative wonderland on the city's streets on August 3rd, 4th, 5th.

The annual extravaganza of performances, music and spectacle will offer audiences over 250 free shows and music gigs.

Highlights include the festival parade, Bugs, featuring spectacular floats and hundreds of performers weaving through the city's medieval streets at night followed by a river-launched fireworks finale.

The festival commences on Friday at 4.00 p.m. with the opening performance by the Sanofi Spraoi Orchestra at John Robert's Square.

From then until Sunday audiences will feast on entertainment at venues including: O'Connell Street, John Robert's Square, the Apple Market, Bailey's New Street and The Mall.

Spraoi's Artistic Director, Mike Leahy, told Waterford Today:

"There will be so many brilliant artists I couldn't single one out. But I think our audiences are our secret weapon, visiting artists always remark on how in-tune Spraoi audiences are with street performance.

    Even though the weather Gods didn’t exactly play ball over the weekend it doesn’t take away from the fact that this years Waterford Harvest Festival was yet again another wonderful success.
