Tributes pour in for late Bobby Bible

The Mayor of Waterford, Collr. Mary Roche has led a legion of tributes to the late Robert (Bobby) Bible who died in a road traffic accident on the main Waterford/Cork Road in the early hours of Monday morning.

Bobby who was on his way home to Carrolls Cross following a gig in Sheridans pub, Ballybricken where he performed with another well known singer, Enda Jackman when it is understood his vehicle collided with a loose horse on the main road on the city side of the former Long Haul Tavern pub.

Gardai from Tramore were quickly on the scene and Mr. Bible was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The roadway was closed for most of Monday and diversions were in place while Gardai conducted an investigation into the tragic accident. The Gardai are asking anyone who were travelling in the area at the time of the tragedy to contact them on 051-381333, in particular anyone driving on that stretch of roadway between the hours of 12 midnight and 2 a.m. on Monday

Bobby was a consummate musician and had built a studio in the Mayor's Walk, Waterford city, the bulk of the work on which he had done himself. He was a most popular and likeable individual and was hugely regarded in musical and entertainment circles in Waterford. Among the groups he played with were Waves, Tweed, Brass & Co., the Jam Tarts, with Tommy Comerford and as a solo artist.

Bobby was aged 52 years and is survived by his wife Breege, his son Robbie, daughter Amy, and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his father Jim; his brother Eugene and three sisters.
