There was a general negative reaction to the TV3 programme screened on Monday night on TV3 on the Ballybeg Housing Estate.

Deputy John Halligan, Independent posted the following comment on his Facebook page:

"I sincerely hope next week’s episode of The Estate on TV3 portrays some of the good work being done on the ground in Ballybeg by local residents.

What the programme neglected to mention was the fact that all those houses were clumped together without a second thought to proper planning and it was the community itself – particularly residents of Clonard Park and Ardmore Park - who built up everything they have out there. Shame that members of the Ballybeg Action Group or some of the other community activists were not interviewed about all the hard work they do positively promoting Ballybeg".

Former Ballybeg publican Frank King rang WRLfm and also

Fianna Fáil Cllr Gary Wyse, has announced his intention to withdraw from the voting pact agreement that currently exists at Waterford City Council.

Cllr Wyse’s announcement comes after he was refused the opportunity to debate a motion on the future of Waterford Regional Hospital at last night’s City Council meeting.

Cllr Wyse commented: "At the end of last night’s meeting I pleaded with the Mayor to allow time for debate on my motion, which called on the Minister for Health to retain the existing services at Waterford Regional Hospital.

"The Mayor informed me that there was not enough time to debate the motion, which I find incredible. The motion would have taken 20 minutes to debate and it is extremely disappointing that the Mayor point blank refused to take it. I am shocked that he didn’t deem this hugely important topic eligible for

RNLI MAYDAY appeal and support Waterford lifeboat stations

With the poor weather the RNLI is calling on people to put their wellies to good use and support their forthcoming MAYDAY appeal.  The charity that saves lives at sea is asking the public to hold or support a welly themed fundraising event or buy a special yellow welly RNLI MAYDAY key-ring to raise funds for the lifeboat service, which has three lifeboat stations in Waterford. The RNLI MAYDAY appeal is supported by John West.

The yellow welly is an essential piece of the RNLI volunteer lifeboat crewmember’s kit.  Waterproof with steel-capped toes, the specially designed boots keep the volunteer crew’s feet warm and dry while also protecting them in dangerous conditions on deck. During gale force winds, rain and ice, keeping a sure footing can literally mean the difference between life and death

  • A Wonderful Harvest

Even though the weather Gods didn’t exactly play ball over the weekend it doesn’t take away from the fact that this years Waterford Harvest Festival was yet again another wonderful success. It was great to see the streets of the centre of the city so beautifully and thoughtfully decked out. The various food stalls offering tastes from all over were great to wander around. The information and background that each of the stall holders were able to give on the provenance of their food was really interesting an …
