Walk and Social
The Irish Wildlife Trust’s Christmas walk and social takes place next Sunday December 16 starting at 2 pm from the main car park at Woodstown. We will walk to Creadan (Fornaught) Strand and from there to the Giant’s Grave (the Neolithic Passage grave at Harristown) along a section of the legendary Bóthar na mBan Gorm and by road back to Woodstown. The walk is about 21/2 hours and will be energetic in places. The Bóthar is badly rutted near the Grave and uneven in other places so strollers are not recommended.. But there is an option of a shorter route suitable for strollers. Otherwise it is a family friendly event full of interest for all ages. Afterwards there will be an informal Christmas get -together in a local hostelry and we would love to meet and chat with
Grow and Mow at Waterford City Council
Wednesday, 12th December 2012
The Grow and Mow challenge was a slightly different response to the Movember fundraising initiative where a couple of WCC staff decided that along with raising awareness of cancer and palliative care issues that it would be appropriate to try to provide funding to some lesser publicised local organisations that do great work in the community. Members of the committee were also personally touched by the kindness and support provided by the two local services and we wanted to give something back.
Our decision to grow beards or in the case of one of our volunteers shave a beard that was 40 years in the growing was to make a striking visual statement that raised much comment and also helped raise much needed cash.
We started with 4 but it quickly spread to 18 all of who were involved in the fund

Google AlertWhen a company which has it's European Headquarters here in Ireland is called 'evil' and 'immoral' by M.P.s in The House of Commons you tend to sit up and take notice. The particular company that was being referred to was Google and the reason it had enraged M.P.s in London was because even though it has a big operation there and conducts a lot of business there it pays no corporate tax. It does this by having all of its financial transactions finished here in Ireland. And the company here is …
