International Kickboxing Federation 2013 Awards Night
On February 8th in Ashbourne Co. Meath Irelands biggest full contact kickboxing organisation, The International Kickboxing Federation held its first ever Awards Night. The event was a huge success and Dungarvans Deise kickboxing helped itself to no less than 3 National Awards.
Vinny O Brien and his team at Deise Kickboxing made history in 2013 when they promoted the first ever IKF Senior Full Contact Championships in The Sports Centre in Dungarvan. In addition to this Vinny also promoted the IKF National Junior Light Contact Kickboxing Championships in The Sports Centre Dungarvan. Vinny also promoted Gloves And Glory in Lawlors hotel which was a huge success. The hard work paid off and on Saturday night
Vinny won the award for IKF Promoter Of The Year. A huge honour for the Dungarvan coach and his team.
The next award to head to the south east was another tough one to win with 3 very good nominees in the running for Female Fighter Of The Year. The hugely talented Sarah Kiely was called as the winner and that was the second award for Deise Kickboxing.
Deise Kickboxing was to be called back to the stage one more time and this one was the icing on the cake for the Dungarvan club as Deise Kickboxing won Club Of The Year 2013. Coach Vinny O Brien accepted the award and thanked all the students at Deise Kickboxing who help out and make the club the success it is. Vinny also thanked his former coach Billy O Sullivan and IKF President Mr Pete Foley.
Vinny and his team will not rest on their rest laurels though and work is already under way to promote Gloves And Glory 2 in May in Lawlors Hotel with no less than 12 local fighters on the bill including 2 IKF Irish Title Fights.
