Our medal presentation was a great success and took place last Saturday evening at 7.30pm in our new function Room at Ballygunner GAA.

The function was attended by over 100 people, players, families and friends including County Board Chairman Tom Cunningham who graciously called off all his other arrangements to be there.

Our room looked beautiful, decked with black and red bunting and red carpet, and looked better than any hotel could offer.

A very nice DVD was put together with team pictures and action photos playing on our new screen with background music setting the tone. Top quality buffet finger food was served with tea, coffee and soft drinks and crisps for the kids .

Great credit and thanks goes to the organising committee of Gail O'Sullivan, Eddie Flynn, Nicky Walsh and JJ Haran, Billy O'Sullivan and all who helped.

The real heroes on the night were our victorious Teams u21 four in a row team and our eastern Junior champions. It was a special night for the players with some receiving there record fourth u21 county medal.

Special presentations were made to U21 Trainer Michael Mahony and Selector Liam Murphy masterminding in all four u21 successes. Great credit goes to them and also co u21 selectors JJ Haran and Patrick O'Sullivan and indeed the great work Tom O'Sullivan, Jimo Keeffe and Eddie Jackman with the jnr team.

Long serving club man Frankie King also received a special award as did Kevin Mahoney to mark having four grandsons on the victorious u21 team.

County Chairman Tom Cunningham gave a very complementary speech to the club as did Chairman Billy O'Sullivan who asked the young players of Ballygunner to now pick up the baton again and lead us to the our destiny.

It was a lovely evening and enjoyed by all , it was very nice to see players , family's and friends , sponsors and old club stalwarts such as Harry and Margaret Boyle in attendance on the night. Thanks sincerely to all for what was a lovely occasion.

  • A Wonderful Harvest

Even though the weather Gods didn’t exactly play ball over the weekend it doesn’t take away from the fact that this years Waterford Harvest Festival was yet again another wonderful success. It was great to see the streets of the centre of the city so beautifully and thoughtfully decked out. The various food stalls offering tastes from all over were great to wander around. The information and background that each of the stall holders were able to give on the provenance of their food was really interesting an …
