Waterford Racing Club

One year anniversary

Waterford Racing Club celebrated it's one year anniversary with it's busiest and most successful week to date. Mark Gunning kicked off last weekend in style with a 2nd place at the Christy McManus Memorial is Roundwood, Co. Wicklow. Sunday saw action at the Sean Nolan GP in Navan, Co Meath, where Robin Kelly was 3rd overall with Shane O'Donoghue 5th.

On Tuesday night Robin Kelly won round 6 of the SRAM Summer Series in convincing fashion with Mark Gunning 4th and Shane O'Donoghue 6th.

Last weekend at the Paddy Flanagan 2 Day Elite race Robin Kelly finished 2nd on the final stage whilst Mark Nugent was 4th on stage one, finishing 8th overall and winning the trophy for the highest placed A2 rider in the competition. At the Ned Flanagan A3 support race, also in Kildare, Shane O'Donoghue won the stage 2 criterium in a thrilling sprint finish.

Meanwhile we had also sent a squad to the Leahy Cup in Cobh with similarly positive results. Mark Gunning took the A3 race to claim his first ever open race victory whilst Brian Murphy scored his best ever result finishing 2nd in the A4 race.

Congratulations to all concerned. For more information, photos and club news please see http://www.waterfordracingclub.com
