Action packed day out at Sunday's Aglish Gymkhana

The West Waterford village of Aglish is the place to be this Sunday as the annual Aglish Charity Gymkhana takes place, with an action packed day of family entertainment in store. Along with a packed programme of horse and pony Show Jumping, the event features a Dog Show, Dog Agility competition and a Mini Farm. It was announced this week that 'Al Eile Stud' will be the sponsors of the exciting Aglish Puissance competition over the 'Big Red Wall' with a whopping €2,000 and the Gerry O Brien Perpetual Cup up for grabs, along with being a qualifying round for the Land Rover Puissance to be held at the Failte Ireland Dublin Horse Show this August.
Munster Grand Prix
Action in the main arena kicks off with the Lissava Stud 1.20m for the Catherine Cummins Memorial Trophy. This is followed at 1pm by a round of the Munster 'Greyhound Night' Grand Prix League, sponsored by Cappoquin Transport with another €2,000 up for grabs. The Fran Mangan Builders Aglish Speed Derby offers another €1,000 over Aglish's unique course with the winner also receiving the Addie Buckley Memorial Trophy. Arena 4 hosts a busy programme of horse classes with the Deise Veterinary Clinic supporting the 90cm Modified class before the Amateur riders take centre stage with a round of the Leddy League & the Horse Sport Ireland Amateur competition where the winner will receive the David Landers Memorial Trophy. The 1.00m horse class is sponsored by Kiely Tyres Dungarvan while action in arena 4 comes to close with the 1.10m American Style sponsored by Morrisey's Supervalu Dungarvan & Cashel.
Pony Show Jumping Stars
Aglish Gymkhana will as always feature a wide range of Pony Show Jumping with Ireland's future stars in action. The Clothes Horse Equestrian Store near Tramore Co Waterford sponsor the hugely successful 'Carling King Pony League' with valuable league points on offer ahead of the grand final later this year. The 148 1.00m Speed Derby for the Moloney Perpetual Cup will take place in the main arena with €300 on offer from sponsors Horserail Ireland Ltd Phelan's Tack & Things Dungarvan sponsor both of the opening 128cm pony classes in arena 2 while Grandon Motors Glanmire and Colligan Equestrian Centre also provide generous sponsorship in the pony ring. The 148 1.10m and the 138 1.10m classes are both supported by Sweeney Walsh & Associates & Equestrian Insurances Ireland with the 148 winner also receiving the Lelia Veale Perpetual Cup while the 138 victor will take home the Michael O Connor Perpetual Cup. The O Donnell Landscaping 148 1.20m and the Gildawn Stud 138 1.00m also form part of a busy programme in arena 2. Arena 3 kicks off with the 138 & 148 80cms sponsored by Frigospeed Kilkenny, before the 138 & 148 90cm class which is part of the Munster Greyhound Night Red League and The National Pony League sponsored by Cahills Flowers & Gifts Lismore. The Mary T Ronayne Solictor's 128 80cm class is also part of the Munster Greyhound Night Red League and The National Pony League while the Sportmans 60cms pony class is sponsored by The Connors Veterinary practice.
With such a wide variety of top quality show jumping action and added family entertainment on offer a trip to Aglish is a must this coming Sunday.
