Blues (Almost) Turn Tables On Youths

Waterford United gained a large chunk of revenge over their Southeast rivals Wexford Youths with a superb attacking display at the RSC on Friday night. A 4-0 win that in no way flattered the hosts went a long way towards laying the ghosts of the opening night mauling at Ferrycarrig Park, but more importantly set United up perfectly for the second phase of Airtricity League matches, which continues with a tough assignment away to Limerick this weekend. Unbeaten now in three league games, a continuation of that record would be a welcome return indeed as the Blues go looking to claw their way back up the table.

19s Wrap Season Up At The Bowl

Waterford United's Under 19s bring their fantastic season to a close at the Belfield Bowl next Saturday with a visit to UCD in the last Elite League game of the campaign. A third place finish and a superb run to the semi-finals of the U19 Cup have been a fantastic achievement for the players, and for Tommy Griffin and his management team, and with most of the squad still of age to compete at the level again next season, the future looks bright indeed!

Youths Ladies Matchnight Guests

Guests of the club last Friday night were the Wexford Youths Ladies side, who are deserving of great plaudits having just recently finished joint third in the inaugural Women's National League, won by Peamount United. Eight or so of the girls are from the Waterford area, including Ciara O'Brien and Jessica Gleeson, who are no strangers to the role of guests of honour at the RSC, having done it two years ago after starring for Ireland at the Women's U-17 World Cup.

An Interested Spectator

Another interested spectator at the RSC on Friday was Conor Morrissey, the former Waterford Bohs and now Manchester City defender, who is currently on loan to Trieste FC in Italy, having moved there on the recommendation of Roberto Mancini. We trust that he enjoyed the night and was impressed with at least a couple of the goals!

Half Time Draw

Club Lotto

The club lotto jackpot was not won in this week's draw, and so it will stand at a tidy €3000 for the next one, on Wednesday May 2nd. The five €30 winners were: M King, c/o Grubbs; Dermot Walshe, c/o Bolton FC; Aoife Kirwin, Ballybeg; Pamela Bergin, c/o Seller; and Nigel Ray, c/o Mary Ray. The numbers drawn were 13, 15, 16 and 17.

Bus To Limerick

The Blues Supporters Club will be running a bus to the Limerick game, priced at €10 for members and €12 for non-members. If you are interested give their travel hotline a call on 083-4033699. The bus will leave Norris's Bar at 4.15 on Friday afternoon.
