Successful Day at Munster X Country Championships.

Clarecastle in County Clare was the venue on Sunday last for the Munster under age and Novice X Country Championships and in the under age races Waterford athletes were very prominent in the individual and team sections. Two athletes finished second in their events Hugo Blair Waterford under 18 and Una O'Brien Tramore u 16,third placings were secured by Luke Brennan u 18,Matteo Mary u 16 both Waterford AC and Fionn Phelan Ferrybank u 10 and athletes to finish fourth were Órla O'Connor u18, Aidan Burke u14 and Cassandro Abullo under 10 all Waterford AC and Anna O'Connor do was 6 th u 18.Two West Waterford athletes were 7th in their events Shane Mullaney u 16 and Liam Broderick u 10. In addition several others were in the top twelve in their age groups.

Team wins

Waterford did very well in the Inter County team competitions winning the boys u 16 and u 18 , they had seconds in boys u 12 and girls u 18 and thirds in girls u10, u12,u14,u16 and boys u 10. In the Inter Club section West Waterford won the boys u 12 had a second in the girls u16 and a third in the boys u 16,Waterford AC were second in the boys u 16 and under 18 and third in the boys u12 and u 14. Ferrybank were second in the girls u 18 and third in the boys u 18.

Miceál's good run

The Autumn Open X Country fixture took place in The National Sports Centre in Abbotstown on Sunday last with the best athletes in the country in action. In the junior men's race Miceál Power West Waterford had a very good run to finish 3rd overall.

Shane Quinn & Kevin Cooper had excellent runs at the BAA Mayors's Cup cross country race at Franlin Park in Boston USA last Sunday Shane finishing 9th in a time of 24.42 for the 8km distance in a very competitive field,he has been out with injury for some time now, Kevin also had a nice run completing an excellent Ocean State club winning team performance

All Ireland Schools Fixture on Saturday

On Saturday next the All Ireland Secondary Schools Combined Events Championships are in Athlone International Arena with the first event at 10 am. There are four categories minor, junior, intermediate and senior for boys and girls. Each category has five events over the day with a mixture of track and field events.A small number of athletes from Waterford schools will be .competing and one or two are expected to figure prominently.

National Marathon on Monday

Thousands will compete in the Annual Dublin City Marathon on Monday next which has the National Marathon Championships included. A large entry of men and women from Waterford city and county will be among the entrants,many running for various charities.The race begins at 9 am near Fitzwilliam Square.

County Board Meeting

All clubs in the county are asked to send at least one delegate to a special meeting of the County Board this Friday at 7 pm in The Park Hotel Dungarvan. Election of officers will take place as well as a general discussion on the future of the sport in the County.

Brickey 5 KM Run

Sunday morning November 5 th at 11 am is the date and time for the 24 th Annual Brickey 5 Km run and Walk promoted by West Waterford AC in aid of Brickey Rangers Juvenile Club. Entries on day from 10 am at Bushy Park.Saturday November 11 th 10 miles run 10 am from Kilmeaden Railway Station in aid of Down Syndrome Waterford and Kilkenny, event is sold out.

The Waterford Athletic Club Annual Half Marathon with a cap of 2,600 entries due to be held on December 2nd 2017 is now officially sold out.
