Also, a limited amount of tickets are still available for the Manchester United friendly at the RSC in July, from John Ryan's shop on Patrick Street, and from the online shop on the club website. The price remains the same at €30, but note that all of the kids tickets have long since sold out.

Club Lotto Above Five Figures

There was no jackpot winner in the recent club lotto draw, so the top prize rools over again, to an impressive €10,500, for the next draw on July 3rd. Through the mid-season break, and all year round the lotto is the only regular source of funding for the club, and you can really help the Blues along by playing online from the club website, or grabbing a ticket from any of our usual sellers from John Ryan's shop on Patrick St, or

Breen completes second Irish outing in Donegal

There was a sad end to Craig Breen's Donegal International Rally exploits as his Suirway Forklifts sponsored Mk2 Escort ground to a halt on the road section out to the first stage this morning. Breen was lying in 5th position in the National category (2 Wheel Drive) with just the final six stages remaining when a faulty relay side-lined his adventure.

This brings an end to Craig's two planned Irish outings at the wheel Escort. He had a non-finish in Killarney at the Rally of the Lakes in May and again this weekend hard luck was on his side in Donegal But this was not about gaining results! The emphasis of Craig's appearance on both events was to showcase the Waterford driver's talents to his home fans during this year as he is the reigning

Banana Skin

The draw for the Preliminary round of the hurling qualifers will see Waterford face Offaly with the game taking place on Saturday next 22nd June in O'Connor Park, Tullamore. On any given day the men from the midlands can be a real handful, and being first "out of the hat" gave them home advantage for this tie. The performance of the Ollie Baker managed outfit against Kilkenny in their Leinster quarter final game epitomised the way the county can lift their performance in the championship completely belying their Alliance National League Division Two status. For long periods against the all-conquering Cats there was very little between the sides. Offaly did manage what most teams fail to do against Brian Cody's Kilkenny and that is to score four goals in a championship outing. Perhaps a warning of their potential firepower.

Super Blues close in on top three

cobh ramblers 0 - 2 waterford united

Managerless Waterford United reeled off their third league win on the trot when two Ben Ryan penalties gave them victory against a poor Cobh Ramblers team on a bumpy St Colemans Park pitch on Saturday night last. Longford still lead with 28 points, Athlone have 23 points and Wexford Youths have banked 22. The Blues have moved on to 21 points and are very much back in the promotion picture once again.

It was Ryan who almost gave the visitors a third minute lead after good work down the right saw Conor Whittle, making his league debut for the Blues, swing in a deep cross but Ryan's looping header came crashing back off the crossbar much to the relief of Ramblers keeper Robert Birdsall.

Birdsall was called on three minutes

Time for a breakJust as the height of Summer begins it seems that it is also the time when our politicians begin their yearly departure from Dail Eireann. While not many professions get as much holiday time as politicians do you have to ask the question whether they merit such long breaks? There are many who would immediately answer that they don't really deserve such long holidays, that they barely seem to spend any time in the Dail at all and after all they are well remunerated for the long hours …
