Competition - Top Chefs Cooking Up A Storm At Tastefest

Preparations are well underway for TasteFest - Cork's finest Festival of food, drink and culture - taking place over four days in the beautiful surroundings of Fitzgerald Park, Cork from 23rd-26th June.

The Live Chef's Theatre is sure to attract many foodies to TasteFest with cookery demonstrations from leading celebrity chefs throughout the weekend. These include Rachel Allen who is just starting filming her eighth television series, TV3's Head Chef Conrad Gallagher and Ireland AM's Andrew Rudd, as well as the enigmatic Seamus O'Connell from The Ivory Tower, Kevin O'Regan from Electric Bar & Restaurant and Graeme Campbell from Hayfield Manor.

As participating restaurants and top chefs finalise their signature dishes for TasteFest, many artisan producers are looking forward to a fun-filled weekend as they prepare to sample new product ranges.

Some of the restaurants signed up for TasteFest include Augustines, Isaac's, The Liberty Grill, The Rising Tide, The Club Brasserie and The Cornstore.

Barry & Fitzwilliam Ltd, will have a number of bars at TasteFest ranging from the Corona Extra Bar, celebrating 21 years on the Irish market this year. Also, Ginger Joe ginger beer, Tia Maria, Echo Falls Spritz, McGuigan Wines and a Bubbly Bar serving a range of sparkling wines including Piper Heidseick Champagne, McGuigan Sparkling Chardonnay and Prosecco.

Some of the artisan producers exhibiting at TasteFest Cork include Baldwin's Farmhouse Ice Cream, Choc Allure, G & G Gourmet Jams, Jan's Gourmet Foods, O'Flynn's Gourmet Sausage Company and Country Choice from Nenagh.

Other lifestyle and leisure companies participating in TasteFest are The Cork International Hotel, Fota Island Resort, Irish Celtic Art, Irish Heritage Giftware and Royal Massage.

TasteFest is supported by Fáilte Ireland and Bord Bia and by the Irish Examiner and Cork's 96FM as media partners. Fáilte Ireland is promoting its ‘Place on a Plate' program which gives visitors a sense of where they are through the food they eat.

Tickets are on sale on http://www.tastefest.ie at special early bird offers from €10 with children under 12 admitted free during the afternoon sessions.
