Honey competition at Iverk Show

South Kilkenny Bee keepers are reminded that entries for the honey competition at the Iverk show on 25th August must be made online at

Please bring your exhibits to the honey show stand by 9am on the morning of the show.

We look forward to a keen competition with lots of entries in all classes.

Visitors to the stand will have a opportunity to see honey bees and bee products."

Saint Andrew's Church, Dunmore East, will hold their annual Table Quiz on 16th August at 8.30pm in Power's Pub, Dunmore East.

Diabetes Ireland at Tramore

Diabetes Ireland will be at Supervalu, Tramore, Co. Waterford on Thursday, August 9th, 2018 from 10am to 4pm (lunch 1pm-2pm).

We will offer free screening, education, risk assessment and literature to the general public. We also welcome people with an existing diagnosis for information.

The screening test is completed within a few minutes and the result is available immediately.

Wreath Laying Ceremony

A wreath laying ceremony will be held on Sunday 2nd September 2018 at the Dungarvan WW1 Memorial Wall, beside Johns Castle, Dungarvan. This ceremony is being organized by the Waterford Branch of The Royal British Legion, to remember the men and women from Waterford City and County who fell in the Great War.

Everyone is welcome to attend, relatives of those named on the wall are invited to lay a wreath in their memory.

Fr. Colm O'Brien Memorial Cycle

The Fr. Colm O'Brien Memorial Cycle is taking place on Saturday 11th August 2018. This year's nominated charities to benefit from the event are Assisi House Day Care Centre for the Elderly and the Lisa Power Support Fund.

Super Table Quiz Night

The Irish Hospice Foundation are holding a major Table Quiz Night in Tramore GAA Centre on Friday 10th August at 8.30pm. Sponsored by the very successful Tramore Company, Total Precision. A table of four players will be 30. A judge, raffle and auction will take place on the night and complimentary finger food and light refreshments will be provided. Full details on this very large fundraising night will apear in next week's issue.

Waterford Branch Manchester City Supporters Club

The Waterford Branch of the Manchester City Supporters Club are holding their first meeting of the new Season on Sunday 12th August at 3pm, prior to the Man City v Arsenal game.

Venue is Bobby's Bar, Newgate Street, Waterford. (formerly Mullane's Bar)

Membership fees will be collected at this meeting and details for the forthcoming season will be discussed.

Any City fans interested in joining the Supporters Club are very welcome.

Oral History Call

Lorraine Grimes is a PhD Researcher at the National University of Ireland, Galway. She is looking for participants for a project entitled: 'Migration and Assistance: Irish Single Mothers in Britain from 1926-1980'.

This project will investigate the migration of Irish unmarried mothers to Britain and the assistance availed of in Britain.

The purpose of the oral history interviews is to establish why women felt the need to emigrate and to note their experiences in Britain.

Women's stories will be central to the narrative of the research.

All participants must fit the following criteria to participate in the in project:

- Irish woman (Republic or Northern Ireland)

- Single mother who migrated to the UK (on a short term or long term basis)

- Between the years 1926-1980

Participants can be based in either Ireland or Britain and have travelled anytime from 1926-1980.
