Pepe Jeans London Spring Summer womenswear

Wednesday, 27th April 2011

Pepe Jeans London is shaping up for spring/summer 2011 with a vibrant trend-led collection and an emphasis on sophisticated and feminine silhouettes. Separated into three main stories, the collection mixes preppy and nautical looks with a global traveler theme and a return to heritage denim.

SPRING CITY

This city-inspired collection has a modern preppy handwriting which combines weekday wardrobe essentials with softer, more feminine pieces. Lightweight slim-fitting trench coats and simple knee-length skirts appear alongside 1980s-inspired Breton-striped nautical jerseys and the season's must have chino trousers. Collegiate-inspired varsity looks provide another recurring theme in the Spring City collection which are set against more grown-up looks punctuated by intricately printed dresses and silk tops. The colour palette mixes beiges and ecru shades with soft grey tones alongside fuchsia, yellow, and plum.

HERITAGE

With vintage Americana lighting up the spring "11 trend radar, Pepe Jeans explores its rich denim archives for inspiration. The Heritage collection mixes romantic Western styling redolent of the 1980s and Depression-era denim-on-denim looks with a more modern rock-chic personality. The emphasis on denim, in various states of laundered distress, is not at the expense of other vintage-era fabrics including antiqued plaids, washed-out stripes and soft florals. Details including placed sequin patterns, leather inserts and fringing underline the romance of this retro look.

SUMMER NOMADS

Summer Nomads is a mini-collection inspired by the fictional exploits of the globetrotting Pepe Jeans girl who through her international travels collects clothing as souvenirs of her adventures. A kaleidoscope of exotic silhouettes and ethnic prints, the character's imagined wardrobe provides a seductive sartorial insight into her trips through both the African and Indian sub-continents.

These sumptuous styles including flowing maxi-dresses, batik-print skirts and sari-inspired silhouettes are combined with aspects of the character's functional day-day clothing characterized by a directional army green playsuit which combines parka details on top with Rangoon style shorts.

SEVENTY-THREE

Sitting at the premium end of the Pepe Jeans London denim offer, Seventy-Three remains drenched in the rock'n'roll spirit which for spring 2011 takes a darker turn with gothic prints featuring alongside stud, chain and sequin details. A largely neutral palette is dominated by whites, greys and black.
