Waterford Philosophical Society

Waterford Philosophical Society present a Stand Alone Lecture - The Life and Work of Emily Dickinson at 7:30 p.m., Monday 1st January, at Waterford Cheshire, John"s Hill

Emily Dickinson has achieved renown for her ability to engage with the perennial themes of Western poetry, such as love, God, and death, in startlingly original ways. This lecture will examine a number of Dickinson"s poems along with excerpts from her letters to demonstrate the ways in which she can be seen to have synthesized her personal experiences with her learning throughout her literary life. In the course of this talk poems will be related to biographical contexts in our efforts to illuminate the strangely compelling yet challenging nature of Dickinson"s work.

No prior knowledge of philosophy is required. For further information, please visit our Facebook page (Philosophia Waterford) or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
