Computer Classes - Age Action Computer Classes resume on Wednesday 6th September at 10:30am for five weeks.

This programme delivers one-to-one training on computers, tablets, laptops and smart phones to people over the age of 55.

Summer Reading Adventure - We are half way through the reading adventure at this stage. Well done to all those participating! At present, the four national schools leading the reading adventure are Glenmore, Slieverue, Ballyfacey and Mullinavat! Wreath Laying Ceremony

Sunday 27th August 3 pm at Dungarvan WW1 Memorial Wall

A wreath laying ceremony will be held on Sunday 27th August 2017 at the Dungarvan WW1 Memorial Wall, beside Johns Castle, Dungarvan. This ceremony is being organized by the Waterford Branch of The Royal British Legion, to remember the 1200 men and women from Waterford City and County who fell in the Great War.

Everyone is welcome to attend, relatives of those named on the wall are invited to lay a wreath in their memory.

South Kilkenny bee keepers at the Iverk Show

South Kilkenny bee keepers will have a stand at the Iverk Show on 26th August. We would be delighted to see you there. Information will be available on bee keeping and you will have an opportunity to see a demonstration hive of bees.

Fairbrook House Summer Concert

For twelve years Fairbrook House Gardens and Museum, KIlmeaden is organising a SUMMER CONCERT in the garden with good weather on the lawn enclosed by the fruit and wisteria walk and in case of rain it will be indoors in the museum surrounded by the unique figurative art. Every year different music. Performances from Ireland and abroad like opera, chansons, portuguese fado, Irish traditional, just to mention a few. During the interval on the terrace people are getting served a glass with bubbles and some nibbles, they can stroll around the garden and have a view in the museum with unique art. A different program before and after interval. This year’s program starts with light jazzy and classical songs by Donna Roche accompanied on piano after the interval gypsy jazz with PARIS SWING quartet. Waterford Healing Arts Trust seeks Music Co-ordinator

Waterford Healing Arts Trust (WHAT) is seeking to recruit a Music Co-ordinator/ Administration Assistant to co-ordinate their Healing Sounds and Iontas Arts and Mental Health programmes.

WHAT is Ireland’s leading arts and health programme and brings arts experiences to the bedside of patients at University Hospital Waterford (UHW) and other healthcare settings. Music is at the heart of the work of WHAT and this is a great opportunity for a person interested in music to gain valuable experience in this growing area. The role of the Music Co-ordinator/Administration Assistant involves working with and supporting the WHAT panel of musicians who deliver the Healing Sounds programme at UHW and the Iontas Arts and Mental Health programme at a number of settings in the wider Waterford community. Speaking about the role, Alan Browne, who has been the Music Co-ordinator at WHAT for the last three years, says “It has been a hugely rewarding experience working with professional musicians and witnessing firsthand the benefits of bringing live music into various healthcare settings. I myself am also now training to work as a musician in healthcare settings, which is an opportunity that came about as a result of my role with WHAT so, on many levels, this has been a fantastic experience and one I would recommend to anyone”.

Claire Meaney, Acting Arts Director of WHAT, adds “The Music Co-ordinator is an important member of the team at WHAT. There is a mountain of evidence attesting to the positive impact music has on wellbeing, so we are constantly seeking to increase and improve the music initiatives we can offer patients at UHW and in the community healthcare settings where we work. This is a very rewarding role and it’s important that we get the right person for the job. If anyone would like to have a chat about the role before applying, we would be delighted to hear from them”.

Established in 1993, WHAT provides opportunities for patients at University Hospital Waterford and other healthcare settings to experience the benefit of music. WHAT supports the development of arts and health in Ireland and manages the national website

An evening of music in Piltown
