Homeopathic personalities:

The Arsenicum personality - Stop worrying!

The second in my series of eight “Homeopathic Personalities” is Arsenicum. It’s an excellent remedy to stop anxiety and worry, and to help you regain peace in the cells of your body.

Perhaps you are a worrier. Or maybe you know someone who worries constantly. Worriers worry about everything: money, poverty, deadlines, exams and exam results, their own or a loved one’s health, flying, death, leaving the backdoor unlocked, world peace, nuclear war: the list is endless!

An anxious Arsenicum personality has the capacity to become afraid of – or to worry about – just about anything! They often worry about things that in all likelihood will never happen. And they even worry when they have nothing to worry about!

Who needs Arsenicum?

People who need Arsenicum are often insecure and may suffer from a lot of anxiety. In the early stages of this “homeopathic state”, the most marked emotional symptoms are irritability, criticism and discontent. As the insecurity increases, the person may develop frightening panic or anxiety attacks, with great restlessness (they can’t keep still for a moment), together with a strong desire for company and reassurance. All of this may have arisen from a minor worrying thought which suddenly becomes overwhelming, taking over the person’s whole being and resulting in conditions like insomnia or tightness in the chest.

People needing this remedy are often extremely fastidious, obsessively putting everything in order. This may be due to an overpowering need to be in control at all times, to help them to feel more secure. The stress that accumulates over time may cause the person to “break” quite suddenly, resulting in a nervous breakdown. Their anxiety often becomes overwhelming, meaning they cease to function rationally.

Physical Ailments

Stomach / chest complaints; angina, gastritis, peptic ulcers, colitis (with extreme burning); Asthma, worse between midnight and 2 am; Food poisoning; Thirsty for small, frequent sips of water; Insomnia, especially difficulty in dropping off to sleep; Eczema with dry skin and intense burning and itching.

Mental & Emotional Ailments

Tremendous anxiety often with great restlessness. Panic attacks, especially after midnight. Constantly needs reassurance from their doctor. Compulsive disorders, eg constant house cleaning or washing of hands. Depression to the point of contemplating suicide. Anorexia nervosa.

Positive results from Arsenicum

Arsenicum is the number one remedy to help relieve anxiety, depression and insomnia. It helps to stop worriers from worrying so much! It also aids in the cleansing of all the mucous membranes in the body, and hence facilitates the healing of ulcers, colitis, asthma and skin ailments. I often prescribe this remedy in my clinics to help clients to heal themselves on their own, and to move on with their lives, rather than staying stuck in a rut.

PS My book “Words of Wisdom for your Health & Happiness” has more on each homeopathic personality.

Religious ToleranceAt a public meeting last week to discuss the plans for a new mosque in Kilkenny, it seemed that out of the crowd of approximately 200 that attended, the overwhelming majority were against the idea. While it was reported that most people were against the addition of the mosque to Kilkenny life due to logistical reasons, it was also reported, and quite prominently, that there were more than a few people who were vocally opposed to the whole idea of a any sort of mosque being built on rel …
