THE MUST SEE Exhibition ROCK paper SCISSORS By Paul Bokslag
Wednesday, 4th July 2012
Rock Paper Scissors is a stunning exhibition of papercuts by Paul Bokslag on show in Garter Lane until Saturday 21 July. The papercuts are part of a continuing exploration of movement, gesture and form and the possibilities of the medium. The works are the result of a slow subtractive process of accumulated freehand marks, using ordinary sheets of paper and simple blades. They play with the contrast between line and plane, foreground and background, positive and negative space, order and disorder and both the fragility and strength of paper. Paul works with ideas but without elaborate preliminary sketches and mostly not more than a single pencil line as a guide. 'Mistakes' are taken on board and become part of the final piece.
Open daily Tues- Sat 11am-5.30pm. Admission is free and all welcome.
