Concert in aid of Waterford Hospice at Christ Church Cathedral
On Thursday 14th June, Christ Church Cathedral Choir, Eric Sweeney & Waterford Brass Ensemble present an evening of sacred music in aid of Waterford Hospice.
Your support on the evening for this very worthy cause would be greatly appreciated.
The choir of Christ Church Cathedral, together with Waterford Brass Ensemble, will give a concert of sacred music on Thursday 14th June at 8pm in Christ Church.
The choir will sing a programme of choral classics spanning over 400 years from the glories of plainchant and Tudor music to the sonorous setting for brass and choir of the Latin hymn 'Ave Maris Stella' by Monteverdi written for the ornate splendor of St Mark's Cathedral, Venice in 1610.
The concert also includes music from Rachmaninoff's choral masterpiece the Vespers of 1910, written exactly three hundred years after the Monteverdi, and much of which is based on traditional Russian Orthodox chant.
Doors at 7.30pm.
Thursday 4th June at 8pm
