Destination Day goes far!

Over 500 people attended Destination Day in the Tower Hotel which was organised the by the Destination Waterford City Tourism Committee. Destination Day was a networking event designed to allow tourism service providers to come together and exchange information. Prizes awarded on the day were Best Animated Stand: Imagine Arts Festival, Best Overall Stand: Waterford Living History, while Tramore Tourism won an award for being the first to 'Tweet ' that they were at the event. The Mayor of Waterford Cllr Pat Hayes opened the event and spoke about the importance of tourism service providers working together to promote Waterford as a tourism destination.
Destination Waterford City is a public and private working partnership which was established in January 2010 by Waterford City Council to promote and develop Waterford City as a dynamic tourism destination and to enable the tourism industry to become a major economic driver in the city's renewal and growth. The key aims and objectives of the Destination Waterford City Tourism Committee are (i) to develop and deliver the Waterford Experience and (ii) to market and communicate the Waterford Experience successfully. The main committee meets approximately three times per year and currently works in the following sub-groups with set objectives: Food Tourism Development, Visitor and Cruise Attractions, Business Tourism Development, Monitoring, 6pm to 9pm (city animation) and Hospitality.
