Bealtaine Programme Of Events Continues At Garter Lane Arts Centre

Following the great success of our past Bealtaine events earlier in May our busy programme continues at Garter Lane Arts Centre.

Join us Thursday 24th May at 2pm for a unique performance of 'Loneliness' by the Waterford Men's Shadow Puppet Group (right) followed by an informal conversation with the group. Philip Cullen, a local artist and sculptor has facilitated the men's group to date and they have produced a short drama in the medium of shadow puppetry to illustrate some of the aforementioned issues such as loneliness, relationship breakdowns, depression, addiction and suicide.

Come along Friday 25th May at 11am for an open book reading of 'Waterford Life Now and Then, an intergenerational learning initiative run by Saint Brigid's Family & Community Centre. Or why not pop down on Tuesday 29th May at 3pm for the free screening of My House in Umbria (Club). Based on the novel by William Trevor and set in the sprawling Italian Countryside featuring Maggie Smith and Ronnie Barker.

The wonderful 'What kind of old do you want to be?' also continues until Thursday 31st May featuring 41 artists ranging in age from 7 to 77. Artists of all ages from across the County and Country submitted a vibrant mix of interpretations in a variety of mediums. The exhibition speaks as testament to creative talent regardless of age and the exhibition is a positive celebration of creative ageing that is not to be missed. Don't forget to vote for your favourite art work on the way out. Opening hours Tuesday to Saturday, 11am - 5.30pm.

All of our jam packed Bealtaine 2012 programme of events are free and open all ages! For the full programme and further info see http://www.garterlane.ie or call box office on 051 855038

As a nation we are obsessed by the weather and its entirely understandable. It is so variable and in such a constant flux that …
