Murphy's Gig Guide

Wednesday, 16th May 2012

Murphy's Gig Guide: So with a wet start on our weekly trad session Kev and Loran tipped away nicely playing some old old trad to some slightly strange rock number. Don't ask, just come down and see. 9pm start.

Thursday 1st Singer song writer night sees Alex Di Camillo/Denver Cuss vs Mark Akins. Should make for a nice intimate gig but also decide who goes to the final.

As regards the battle of the bands 2012 our first semi final with Found On the Floor and Snow days - one a punk band AND one a folk band.

Who will come out top who knows! Be there for 10 pm start.

Here's Saturday's night entertainment in a nut shell. The Imelda May Tribute Band was formed in 2010 by Yvonne Reddy to pay tribute to the music of Imelda May. The band, consisting of Yvonne on vocals, Diarmuid on guitar, Lee on Bass and Colm on drums play material from the hit albums Love Tattoo and Mayhem. They also feature material from Imelda's lesser known first album No Turning Back as well as some Blues and Rockabilly covers from the likes of Howlin Wolf, Little Walter, Elvis etc that Imelda has been know to perform in her live shows. Aside from an attention to detail in the music the band also attempt to re-create the look and energy of an Imelda May performance to enhance the experience for the audience. 10pm start and free always @ Murphys Bar the Quay.

It does this by having all of its financial transactions finished here in Ireland. And the company here is …
