Opera Theatre Company premiere Orfeo by Monteverdi at the Theatre Royal Waterford on Saturday 9th June.
The Theatre Royal is very pleased to announce that Opera Theatre Company will premier its new production of Orfeo by Monteverdi on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th June in Waterford. OTC is delighted to welcome back founding Artistic Director Ben Barnes, who directed the company's first production in 1986, with a new and richly re-imagined staging of Orfeo for a 21st century audience.
With Orfeo, Monteverdi created the first great opera that not only survived the centuries, but still enthrals a modern audience and is now sung in English. Orfeo will delight the first time opera-goer and seasoned fan alike. In addition to attending the performance of Orfeo, join us for a special concert on Sunday morning, 10th June given by the Irish Baroque Orchestra at Christchurch Cathedral and sample some of the other cultural gems on offer in and around the Mall in Waterford City.
