Waterford Massed Band Charity Concert

The producer of the World Famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Mr Steve Walsh MBE has confirmed he will return to Waterford to be guest of honour at this years massed Band Charity Concert. Steve and his wife Fiona accepted an invitation back in 2010 to come to Waterford for the concert where Waterford's Marching, concert, Brass, Pipe and flute bands along with a string section from WIT form a Massed Band for charity and create a sound that has touched so many people over the years of the concert.

Steve Walsh's comment at the 2010 charity concert left the massed band members feeling very proud, delivering his speech to the audiences Steve Walsh said 'this is as good as it gets, if he closed his eyes while listening to the band it feels like being at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo listening to the world biggest Massed Band which grace Scotland capital land mark music event year after year'.

Steve Walsh MBE promised he would come back to Waterford some day but we would have never thought that this highly decorated and respected figure in world music would return to Waterford 2 years later and take his seat amongst us in the beautiful Sacred Heart Church. Added to this years line up are the angelic voices of St Ursula's School Choir that nearly number 100 and are been put through their paces by their musical director Mark Fitzgerald who is also one of the Massed Band conductors along with Julie Quinlan.

This year's very special guest singers will be announced in the coming week and once known will surely add to the value of having a ticket for this magical evening.

Liz Reddy of WLRfm will compère the concert and it is produced by Ger O'Brien, Tickets are selling for only €10 and can be got at City Jewellery Repair, City Square, Waterford and Cahill's Newsagents, Main Street, Tramore, Co Waterford and from bands participating.

Knowing the history of the concert it is advised to purchase tickets early. For lovers of music this is not to be missed and what an incentive to give ourselves a lift.

It is sure to be one of the musical highlights of the year, City of Music Absolutely.
