Waterford Massed Band Charity concert 2012

Wednesday, 2nd May 2012

Taking you on a rollercoaster of musical emotion, music to lift your hearts and minds, standing ovations year after year from pop songs to movie themes. Combined marching, concert, brass, pipe and flute bands joined by violins, piano¸ guitars and added to the mix, a lifetime achievement award Presentation. The Waterford Massed Band Charity Concert proudly takes its place amongst the annual charity fundraising calendar.

This year's concert will take place on Friday June 8th at the Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, Waterford and it's shaping up to be one magical evening that will no doubt sell out as it has done year after year.

The Barrack Street Concert Band, City of Waterford Brass, De La Salle Scout Pipe Band, T.F. Meagher Fife & Drum Band and the W.I.T. string section will join forces during the concert to form as a Massed Band and deliver a need to be heard sound that is very unique and is the only band of it's kind in Ireland.

The Massed Band will be joined by some well-respected musicians that will make up the rhythm section and will also be joined by some very special guest singers which will be announced in the coming weeks.

The proceeds of this year's concert will go towards three very worthy local charities, Searching for the missing, which was very prominent in the recovery of the bodies of the fishermen earlier this year in Union Quay, Cork, Parkinson Association Waterford Branch and The Jonah Project who are involved with young people with autism.

The Massed Band will be conducted again this year by Julie Quinlan and Mark Fitzgerald who are very highly respected conductors and musicians in their own right and renowned on the national and international stage and also responsible for conducting City of Waterford Brass and Barrack Street Concert Band respectively

The concert will be compered by WLRfm's Liz Reddy and produced by Ger O'Brien.

Ticket prices have been kept at a recessional price of €10.00 and are on sale at City Jewellery Repair, City Square, Waterford and Cahill's Newsagent, Main Street Tramore or any band member involved in the Massed Band.

To help with the production cost, a fundraising Table Quiz has been organised on Thursday 3rd May at the Showboat Lounge Bar, The Glen, Waterford, at 9.00pm. €5.00 per person, lots of spot prizes.

Your support would be kindly appreciated.

More details of this very special event will follow in the coming weeks.

The particular company that was being referred to was Google and the reason it had enraged M.P.s in London was because even though it has a big operation there and conducts a lot of business there it pays no corporate tax. It does this by having all of its financial transactions finished here in Ireland. And the company here is …
