Stagemad brings their own Lourdes to Garter Lane this week

Wednesday, 25th May 2011

The time has arrived Stagemad Theatre Company presents the premiere Waterford city playwright Adam Wallace's "Pearldivers". Directed by founder and artistic director James Power at Garter Lane Theatre Wednesday May 25th to Saturday May 28th at 8pm Nightly. Please Note! Wednesday's performance only €10 all other nights just €15. The cast for this beautiful piece of theatre are all Waterford actors : Bridie Hodge, Carol Docherty, Brid Power and Liam Fitzpatrick.

'Pearldivers' is set in a grotto on the outskirts of Waterford during the present day recession. Three ladies, Queenie, Helen and Frances are waiting for a lift but the only thing that was on time that day was the post and a postcard. There was a time when some going to Lourdes was momentous occasion and if you got a present of a medal or a statue you were delighted, and if you got a bottle of Lourdes water it was as good as going yourself, but good if any comes from a postcard. What are the legacies we create for all to see and the ones that go on quietly? This is the story of their legacies. You are in for a night of joy! Stagemad Theatre Company are South/East Culture Award Winners for embracing Waterford writing. http://www.stagemad.ie Facebook Page: Stagemad Power. Stagemad would like to thank the Arts Grants section of the Waterford City Council for their support in this production.
