New Video From King Kong Company
Between 1996 and 2001, King Kong Company wowed audiences the length and breath of the country.
Gigs at Homelands, The Red Box, The Gaiety,The Olympia and our very own Garter Lane have been long etched into the minds of those who attended. The six piece band made dance music at a time when bands didn't make dance music. Each band member also brought their own influences to the music, from techno and drum and bass through to ska and reggae, it's all in there, somewhere. After a 10 year hiatus the band announced in January they would get back together to re-edit some older tracks and work on some new material. At the beginning of February, the band released a re-edit of the classic Dr. Whom track, complete with a video that has been clocking up the Youtube views since. (Check it out at Youtube.com/KingKongCo) King Kong are releasing one track per month, with a video, every month. This Wednesday March 9th see's the release of the second track
'Free The Marajana' when it's video debuts on the KKC Facebook page (facebook.com/KingKongCompany) and Youtube channel at 8pm.
Free The Marajana is another classic that was first heard late night in a dark, jammed and electrified Garter Lane. Its dubbed up reggae groove with the very distinguishable 'Free The Marajana' hook will be instantly recognisable to fans. But such is the quality of the music, and talent involved in the band, this and Dr. Whom still sound incredibly fresh and relevant for those who missed them first time around.
The video for the track was recorded at Garter Lane in the middle of February this year. The location has a special place in the hearts of all King Konger's, be they band members or fans. Garter Lane was the venue that King Kong made their own. On several occasions the band sold out a string of shows over a bank holiday weekend. Not many Waterford bands, or indeed any bands, can lay claim to that! On Wednesday March 9th, it's time to put the feet up again, log into
Facebook, and see what King Kong did when they returned to their old stomping ground.

Not so GR8 G8With world attention on Fermanagh as the meeting place of the latest G8 Summit it is no wonder that locals are basking in the reflected spotlight. We have all been told, if we haven't already experienced at first hand, the beauty of the location. We know about the exclusiveness of the hotels that the various leaders are going to be staying as well as some of their security detail. We know about the menus from which they will be choosing from. There is little about summit meeting that the …
