Should I make a Will?
Of course everyone should make a Will if for no other reason than to ensure that those who you wish to benefit from your estate will do so.
Is it expensive to make a Will?
No - fees vary from solicitor to solicitor depending on how simple or complex it may be.
Should you hand your house over to your children during your lifetime or leave it to them by way of gift under your Will? Many consider this question and don't know what to do, well that is what your solicitor is there for. Ask him/her for the pros and cons in trying to decide the right choice for you.
Enduring Power of Attorney
Are you worried a family member may develop dementia or a health condition which prevents him/her from dealing with their affairs?
What can you do? We must therefore look at the importance of
completing an Enduring Power of Attorney.
What is an Enduring Power of Attorney?
It's a document which your solicitor prepares provide that in the event of you getting dementia or Alzheimers that the person(s) who you have appointed to look after your affairs will do so and thus avoid the necessity of applying to the High Court to have you made a Ward of Court.
Who do you pick to be your attorney? Your spouse, your best friend, a relation, or one of your children; the choice is entirely yours!
May you appoint more than one person? Yes.
Personal Injury Accidents
Have you had an accident either at work, on the road, or in a public place?
Then you should make sure to take legal advice promptly.
If some person comes knocking on your door waving a cheque book to settle your case; be wary.
How do you know the extent of the injuries you have suffered without first of all getting advice from your local solicitor who can get a medical report so that the full extent of your injuries can be assessed. Furthermore it is your solicitor who can give an expert opinion of the potential value of your case.
Medical Negligence
If you are contemplating taking an action against a hospital/doctor/dentist you should be careful to take legal advice.
Have you had a DePuy hip replacement/PIP breast implant in the past few years? If so, you may wish to contact your local solicitor to discuss your options.

Google AlertWhen a company which has it's European Headquarters here in Ireland is called 'evil' and 'immoral' by M.P.s in The House of Commons you tend to sit up and take notice. The particular company that was being referred to was Google and the reason it had enraged M.P.s in London was because even though it has a big operation there and conducts a lot of business there it pays no corporate tax. It does this by having all of its financial transactions finished here in Ireland. And the company here is …
