Donation from ex-TalkTalk Workers:

On behalf of employees at its former contact centre in Waterford, TalkTalk recently made the significant donation of €4987 to St. Vincent de Paul Mens Hostel Waterford City.  Commenting on the donation, Employee Representative, Tom Phelan said: "When news broke last September that nearly 600 jobs were being lost in TalkTalk in Waterford, we received massive moral support from the people of Waterford and beyond at what was a difficult time for us working there.  The TalkTalk workers wanted to thank the people of Waterford for this support.  TalkTalk and AOL before them had always encouraged and facilitated involvement in local community and charity activities in the name of corporate social responsibility, so during our redundancy consultations with the company it was agreed that the proceeds from the sale of surplus equipment would be distributed to worthy organisations nominated by employee representatives."

    Google AlertWhen a company which has it's European Headquarters here in Ireland is called 'evil' and 'immoral' by M.P.s in The House of Commons you tend to sit up and take notice. The particular company that was being referred to was Google and the reason it had enraged M.P.s in London was because even though it has a big operation there and conducts a lot of business there it pays no corporate tax.
