To say that the Brexit negotiations are looking like one of the biggest examples of political ineptitude would be putting things mildly. If they didn't impact Ireland so much you would be forgiven for thinking that they didn't really matter that much. But the sad fact is that they do impact on Ireland and to a very large degree indeed. The border question is one of the key components of how Brexit is supposed to be implemented but even now at this stage there is very little agreement as to how things will go. Will there be a hard border or a soft border nobody knows, although everyone says that they want a soft border or at least as little disruption to the status quo as it stands. But the fact remains that there is still little headway to be made on the issue. It seems that despite all of the talk there is still little delivery on what sort of border will exist post-Brexit.
