Waterford - Summer City

summer_city.jpgWaterford is breathing new life into its city centre this summer with the announcement of an ambitious programme covering over 150 activities. Waterford City Council, working with Spraoi, and supported by Failte Ireland is creating a buzz in the heart of the city with a whole range of events with the emphasis on fun.

Be it Tango lessons in John Roberts Square, Concerts in the Cathedral, the Market in Blackfriars or clowning on the quay, Waterford has it all. And if you are into more reflective pursuits, there are five city galleries including the brand new contemporary art box - SOMA on Waterford's famous Mall, a world famous Cathedral with a programme of classical and gospel concerts and the award winning Waterford Museum of Treasures at the Granary.

Also this summer, Spraoi in the Park the first weekend in July and the traditional Spraoi on the Streets over the August Bank Holiday weekend provide crescendos of fun and entertainment in an already packed

summer programme. There are also open air rock gigs every Saturday evening, marching band concerts during Saturday afternoons, puppet shows, workshops and an organised series of summer walks.
