Like all citizens of this lovely land of ours, I am concerned at the present financial state of the country, so I suggest the following methods for the rescue of this land we love. Abolish all city and local councils as they have no real power, are simply rubber stamps for the managers who actually have the power to make the decisions.
Certainly the Councillors appear at functions dressed in medieval costumes which are a source of amusement (and bemusement!) for foreign visitors. They are also very good at running up enormous expenses. During my early years I remember three members of the then named Corporation who never did a day's work but managed to live a better lifestyle than a worker. It hasn't changed.
