I organised a recent conference in Brussels on how best can Ireland drawdown funding and maximise opportunities that are available under the 7th EU Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7) 2007 - 2013.
There is 52 billion Euro available under this programme and it is the stated objective of the Irish Government to seek to drawdown over 600 million Euro of this fund over the next five years. Irish companies have already drawdown over 80 million Euro to financially support 350 projects since the start of 2007.
Keynote speakers at this conference included Hans Gert Pottering, the President of the European Parliament, Janez Potocnik, the EU Commissioner for Science and Research and Dr Jimmy Devins TD, the Irish Minister for Science and Innovation and representatives from Enterprise Ireland.
