Then, maybe the Performing Arts Summer School from 16-20 July run by Garter Lane Arts Centre and Waterford Youth Arts is for you. Garter Lane Arts Centre, one of Ireland’s largest arts centres, joins forces again this summer with Waterford Youth Arts, the foremost youth arts organisation in the country, to present Performing Arts Summer School 2007. The Performing Arts Summer School, now in its fourth year, takes place each day at Garter Lane Gallery, O’Connell Street and at Waterford Youth Arts, The Arch, Barrack Street, Waterford from Monday 16 to Friday 20 July.
Skilled youth art practitioners from Waterford Youth Arts will lead a unique week, packed with various art forms including drama, dance, art, storytelling and video production for three different age groups: 4–5 years, 6–8 years, and 9–11 years. It’s good fun, confi- dence building, full of creativity and encourages teamwork, and it’s a chance to make new friends in a fun, safe environment.
The courses are age specific and will be presented at levels to suit everyone, so that experienced participants will be challenged and the inexperienced participants will be encourage to try out something new! Course A, for 4 to 5 year olds, takes place at Garter Lane Gallery, O’Connell Street, with activities in drama dance crafts and storytelling from 10am to 12.15pm each day. Course B, for 6 to 8 year olds involves drama, dance, art and video production, until 2.30pm each day. Course C takes place at Waterford Youth Arts, Barrack Street, and also involves drama, dance, art and video production until 3.30pm each day. Course fees are €70 for Course A, and €100 for Course B and C, and the closing date for registration is Saturday 7 July.
