His legion of fans will be delighted to hear that singing star, George Murphy will make a guest appearance in Walton Park, Dungarvan at the second Family Fun Day next Sunday.
This newest of the town's treasures will be the venue for a repeat of last year's exciting gathering, with its numerous attractions, most of which will be free.
George, who did not manage to make it down from Dublin for the 4th July will have just some of his band with him, together with a bunch of songs and a fistful of copies of his new CD, 'The Ballads of Archie Thompson' which is selling fast in the shops.
With a talented line-up of other bands, the music department will be well catered for along with the many other attractions which should ensure the Park will be a hive of activity.
Last year's Family Day attracted hundreds of families who listened to the music, played on the bouncy castles, got their faces painted, ate ice cream and generally enjoyed the many attractions which were on offer.
All of those will be present again this year, together with artistic balloons as well as clowns and a variety of stalls as well. There will be tea, coffee, snacks and a barbecue for those who wish to purchase something more substantial. The many stalls of the Farmers Market will also be there, with their various delicacies, preserves, cakes and sweets.
With Lyre Dyce opening the musical programme at 2pm, a lively start is guaranteed and they will be followed by Ted Friendly, with Mattie and Paula Weldon playing and singing their own extensive repertoire through the later afternoon.
George Murphy will be on hand to close the programme with his own distinctive brand of traditional and folk ballads, and singing several of the numbers on his new album. This promises to be an ideal destination for a summer's Sunday afternoon which may not be suitable for the beach and there will surely be something there to entertain parents and children alike.
Commencing at 2pm, the packed programme will run until 5.30.
