The Waterford Motivation Weight Management Clinic opened on Canada Street in July 2007.

The actual programme was first developed over 30 years ago by a French Canadian doctor, Dr. Maurice Larocque and is in operation worldwide.  The programme consists of two parts – a healthy eating plan coupled with a lifestyle change in order to maintain your target weight long-term.

One such success story is Elaine Condon (pictured).

Most young working women will relate to Elaine's story. Elaine had struggled with her weight since she was a teenager.  Working different shifts as a lab technician and as a mother of 2 young children (Katie and Jack), Elaine found it next to impossible to shift her excess weight.

When Elaine first attended the Waterford Clinic her BMI (body mass index) was examined and Elaine was advised to lose 5 stone in order to be in her healthy BMI range. In order not to be overwhelmed by the amount of weight to be lost, Elaine was advised to break it down and to do her best every morning, every afternoon and every night and that the weight loss would follow.

It certainly did and now 4 and a half stone lighter Elaine's life has literally turned around. Elaine has never had as much energy and is so happy in herself. She is now fitting into size 10 clothes and can't believe that she is only a few pounds and weeks away from her target weight.
