St. Anne’s Waterford Tennis Club beat out stiff competition from Templeogue Tennis Club to win the Large Club of the Year Award. They also went on to win the outright Supreme Club of the Year 2007 beating Sandycove and Ballypatrick at this year’s Awards ceremony.

"To be recognised as the best club in the country out of all 200 affiliated clubs in Ireland is a fantastic reward for all members, past and present, who have made St. Anne’s Waterford into the great club it is today. This country –wide recognition is the ultimate accolade that can be awarded to any club" said Paddy Murphy, President St. Anne’s Waterford Tennis Club.

St. Anne’s Waterford Tennis Club is over one hundred years old. It has survived two world wars over this period and has developed into what is now seen as Ireland's premier tennis club. It has a large and active membership and is committed to ensuring the development of the game of tennis among all age groups in Waterford and across the South East of Ireland.

Over the last number of years, almost half a million Euros has been spent on developing and upgrading the club's facilities and services in order to create one of the most dynamic and innovative clubs in Ireland.

The development of the junior game is a key focus for the Club which employs five coaches. This has seen dividends on the courts with a large number of winners around the Clubs’ Open circuit during the course of last Summer.

The club has worked very hard across the board. Major investment has taken place in its facilities and its services to members. The club very actively promotes the game and has constantly supported the local community and charity organizations over the years.

According to Des Allen, CEO, Tennis Ireland, "The Eagle Star National Club Awards is a vital initiative in terms of development of the sport in Ireland. They reward excellence and quality in all the development work which is done at Club level. We are delighted to see St. Anne’s Waterford winning the Supreme Club of the Year Award for 2007".
