Optimistic Outlook for 2010 |

Michael Garland, Waterford Chamber of Commerce said their 'Christmas in Waterford' campaign was a great success and had raised the profile of the city. Their competition received 2,500 replies with people from Kilkenny, Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Dublin, Wexford responding, as well as entries from the UK and Australia. They needed 50% more "buy-in" to make next Christmas 150% better for 2010. "The train has left the station and it is going in the right direction", he concluded.
Ann-Marie Caulfield, Chair of the retail sub-committee Waterford Chamber said the sales had given a great lift off in the city centre and there was still great value in the shops.
Orla O'Reilly, Assistant Manager, Debenhams, City Square said they had done quite well and better thanexpected over the New Year. They were currently trading at the same level as last year.
