  • Expert view - Why do people buy silver and gold?

    Wednesday, 24th August 2011

Gold and silver have always been recognized as valuable and precious metals have their place in an investment portfolio.

Gold is unique for its durability, because it doesn't rust or otherwise corrode; its malleability and its ability to conduct both heat and electricity. It has some industrial applications in dentistry and electronics, but is principally used as a base for jewelry and as a form of currency.
