A teacher, a nurse and a jeweller transform into a magical ensemble on stage. The fusion of beautiful voices, together with the virtuoso piano playing of their mentor and musical director Siobhan Keappock, makes for a kaleidoscope of songs from disparate origins.

The images he produced were seen and admired around the world.

Can I still back-date pension contributions and get tax-relief at last year's rates?

If you are an employee or company director who pays taxes through the PAYE system, you currently have one last chance to back-date relief from PRSI and the Health Levy on certain pension contributions. However, the relevant contributions have to be in place by October 31st. 2011. If you file and pay using Revenue's Online System (ROS) the relevant date is November 15th 2011.

Up to December 31st 2010, relief against Income Tax, PRSI and the Health Levy was allowed on qualifying personal contributions to pension plans. Since January 1st of this year, relief is no longer available against PRSI. Furthermore, relief is not available against the new Universal Social Charge (USC), which replaced the Health Levy and the Income Levy.

However, Revenue practice allows for the back-dating to 2010

    Another successful Waterford Triathlon

The Waterford Triathlon, also know as "Hook or by Crook" took place for the 6th time last weekend with over 500 entrants on the day from all over Ireland with participants from the Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club making their annual trip from Wales to take part also. Weather forecasts were not good but apart from the odd light shower, most people actually got sunburnt after the day.

  • Minors seek to reclaim Munster

    Wednesday, 22nd June 2011

    GAA notes by The Villager

Walsh Park in the city will surely be a cauldron of excitement on Saturday evening next as Limerick come to town for the Munster Minor Hurling semi-final. To the victor the laurels and the opportunity of an appearance in Pairc Ui Chaoimh on senior final day. Over the last decade there has been a steady rise in the stock of underage hurling on Suirside, so much so in fact that now, Waterford are rightly regarded as one of the strongest counties where minor hurling is concerned. There is no doubt but the work of Coaching and Games is certainly bearing fruit. That said Limerick come into this challenge on the back of a superb 2-14 to 0-12 win over a highly fancied Cork outfit so they will not show any fear in facing the Deise. As

blues set speed record against devon

It was a comfortable, morale-boosting win for Waterford United against Salthill Devon last Friday, as a very attacking line-up ran out eventual 4-0 winners. Two goals on his home debut from new signing Adam McSherry, a first League goal from Dwayne Wilson, and a superb performance from Paul Walsh in his first game back for his third stint at the RSC, were all worthy of remark, but United believe a genuine record was set by the 27 second gap between their third and fourth goals, from Paul Murphy and McSherry respectively. Blues News certainly cannot remember anything even remotely close, and welcome any light that can be shed on the matter! A much tougher test will be provided by next Friday's outing, to take on Cork City at Turner's Cross (KO 7.45pm), but the manner

The Government has announced that it plans to give each child in the State a second year of free pre-school. It might not sound like earth shattering news but if it does happen then it could be one of the most significant things that this Government has done since it took office. Any money that is given over to education is a …
