Blues Look To Start 2nd Series On The Right Foot

After disappointment at Jackman Park at the weekend, where they were somewhat unlucky not to have come away with something to show for their endeavours, United will be looking to make a flying start to the second series of league matches when they travel to Athlone Town on Saturday next. The Blues are unbeaten at Lissywoollen in their last five visits to the Midlands ground, but each result has been very hard-earned, and this weekend promises to be no different. A full game under the belts for the returning front pair of Willie John Kiely and Paul Murphy can only help preparations as United plot a winning start to Series Two.

    limerick 1 - 0 waterford united

After winning two games on the bounce, Waterford United returned to losing form in Jackman Park on Friday night. They have now lost four of their last six games, but are only seven points behind second placed Cork City. Scoring goals is a major problem. Seven goals from ten games played tells its own sorry tale. On Easter Monday, Waterford also lose one nil to Limerick at the same venue in the League Cup.

In a game that started brightly, the visitors had the first real ilt edged opportunity. Pat Purcell, miscued his header, letting Paul Murphy through one-on-one. But his effort was poor, and the strike fell wide of the post. Waterford would regret that spurned chance, as they were few and far between.

Limerick's play, while technical, seemed to really
