    Maria McCann WLR FM , Carmel Jacob winner of Come Dine With ME In Waterford and Val Lambe Ardkeen Quality Food Store.

    Lucky Carmel Jacob, Old Tramore Road, Waterford is declared the winner of WLR FM and Ardkeen Quality Food Stores' Come Dine with Me in Waterford.

    Carmel pipped her fellow contestant Sandra Winkle from Tramore by just half a point to pick up the prize of €1,000 shopping voucher from Ardkeen Quality Food Store.

    Situated in the heart of the city centre, and part of the Viking Quarter, The Market is housed in the former An Post sorting office, behind City Square shopping centre. It can be also be accessed from Custom House Quay, near the GPO.

  • Jam for Japan @ THE FORUM

    Oxfam are running a series of live music events under the banner, JAM FOR JAPAN, around the country to raise money for the continuing relief effort in Japan following the recent earthquake and tsunami. The first one was a brilliant sold out gig at Whelans in Dublin last month and next up is the Forum Waterford this Friday 29th April. The event will be a 6 band jam featuring the three finalists from the recent national "Today Fm Unsigned" band competition [ The Barley Mob, Sanzkrit, The Problematic ] and three great original local acts [ Fighting Spiders, Propeller Palms, Van Basten ]. Doors on the night are at 10pm and admission is €5 with all proceeds going direct to the Oxfam relief effort.

    Waterford businesses are being invited to a free IBEC seminar entitled 'Boosting productivity under pressure' at 9am on Thursday 12 May in Dooleys Hotel. The seminar, sponsored by ESB Electric Ireland, will feature a presentation by John Flahavan, managing director of Kilmacthomas-based Flahavan's, and breakout sessions led by IBEC experts on reducing business costs, enhancing productivity and managing people.

    Announcing the event, IBEC regional director John Farrell said: "Businesses in the South East region have been badly hit in the economic downturn, but many have been able to increase their productivity and turn their fortunes around. This seminar will give people a chance to share their knowledge and get new ideas about how to create the type of dynamic workplace that will cement a company's success."

    The Waterford Council of Trade Unions is to host a May Day rally on Saturday 30th April at 2.00pm in John Roberts Square. The theme of the rally is the right for trade union members to have their union recognised by employers.
