Bad start for the League of Ireland

A simple statement released by Sporting Fingal on Thursday last just about summed up yet another shambles that the League of Ireland finds itself in. The press release read as follows-

"Sporting Fingal has been seeking to restructure over recent months ahead of the 2011 campaign. It had developed what it believed to be a viable business plan on a reduced and prudent scale having secured new investors and some sponsors. A number of commitiments which would be crucial to it's viability have in recent days not materialized. The club has regretfully, for the first time since its inception in 2007, not been in a position to pay players wages at this point and are urgently attempting to resolve the issue. The FAI and the players union, PFAI have been informed of the situation".

  • Fianna Fáil galvanized by new leader

    Wednesday, 2nd February 2011

Waterford Fianna Fail constituency council would like to congratulate Minister Micheal Martin on his election to the leadership of the party. It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome our new leader in a contest, which had 4 excellent candidates.

Michael Martin is a politician of accomplishment and achievement. As minister for foreign affairs he has been progressive and radical in the job as he was in all his other briefs including Health, where he implemented the smoking ban, a controversial but dynamic piece of legislation. He has proven himself to be a man of great strength and vigour in the midst of political turmoil.  We in Waterford believe Micheal Martin possesses the leadership qualities required to take the party forward and give a resurgence and fresh
